Celebrities get Paid Big Bucks to Party on New Years Eve

Frankly, this is just outrageous.

We are in one of the worst economis downfalls in history and night clubs decide to pay celebrities like 50 Cent $100,000 to come party at their venue. Seriously? Why not give that money to charity or bail out some small business. I am slightly outraged at this kinda of spending. Read the whole story here.

TMZ.com reports that:

"50 Cent -- $100,000 for a party at Pure at Caesars Palace.
LMFAO -- $75,000 to perform at a place called Silk in Temecula
Pete Wentz -- $30,000 to hang at Jet Nightclub in Vegas
Nik Richie (the guy from TheDirty.com) -- $20,000 to appear at Pure in Vegas

The cheapest of the group: Brody Jenner, who's pulling in a measly $10K to party at the Hotel Ganesvoort in Miami."

I understand the entire thought behind spending that money. If you get the big name celebrities to come, more people will come, spend money and you will end up making money, but this day in age - it's not the right time to drop that kinda money.

Maybe I am just bitter, but do you think this is kinda silly for one person to get that much money for going to a party? How do you feel about this money allowance?

Get your coffee on. It's good for you!

Good news coffee addicts, some latest research suggests that coffee is good for you, and a lot of coffee is even better.

Harvard researchers found that one to three cups daily of caffeinated coffee can slightly reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, now at epidemic levels among Americans. But drinking six cups or more a day can cut a man's risk of diabetes by 54 percent and a woman's risk by 30 percent.

Web MD notes that coffee can also lower your risk of Parkinson's disease and colon cancer. It's the latest of hundreds of studies that suggest that coffee may be something of a health food, especially in higher amounts.

So grab a cup and drink up!

Best Prank of the Holidays!

Working in an office with a lot of goof-balls, pranking comes naturally. From hiding lunches when someone leaves the lunch table to recycling and reusing shreds of paper as confetti in someones office, we all can appreciate a good prank.

This prank happened in Chicago and made me chuckle. It's just too perfect for the holiday season!

Apparently, one man took a trip out of town for the holiday's and came back to find everything in his apartment, and I mean everything, wrapped in gift wrap! I mean his toliet paper, couch, couch cushions, beverages, food, clock, bed, towels, and etc. was wrapped!

His friends decided to spend a full day pranking him by wrapping everything in his apartment and putting it back exactly where they found it. It took his friends 8 hours and 35 rolls of wrapping paper to wrap his entire apartment!

Have you pulled off any amazing pranks? What did you do? Tell us!

Similar Dress, Different Store and Higher Price?

Needing to get out of the house after being cooped up during the holidays and because I have a self-proclaimed shopping addiction, I decided to embark on a therapeutic shopping extravaganza.

I began my journey at my all-time favorite store (aside from Plato's Closet): Forever 21. I walked around, fell in love and tried on dress, after dress, after dress until I narrowed my choices down to about 30. (Sadly, I am not over-estimating.) With the help of my mother, I made the final decision to purchase only about 7 dresses. (Yes, I may have single-handedly boosted the economy on Saturday.) I was happy with my choices and the prices because that is the one thing I love about Forever 21: great, fashionable clothes for good, reasonable prices!

Continuing on during my therapeutic shopping extravaganza, I went to my second favorite store: Urban Outfitters. To my surprise, they were having a MASSIVE SALE! (Still going on now!) I fought the crowds, perused the racks and found myself in a sense of deja vu! I was looking a dress, which I could have sworn I had seen before! I didn't really take a second thought of it, but it did stick in the back of my head. I went on my merry way and finished my shopping extravaganza.

I got home the next day and was perplexed at what I had seen. I've read the "Save or Splurge" articles all over the girl magazines, but never really thought that there was really a cheaper alternative to my favorite looks...until now. I realized that what I had seen was an eerily familiar looking dress. I realized that I had seen that dresses twin in Forever 21, but at a must lower price! Could it be? Yes, it could.

To validate my findings, I have posted them below:

The two following dresses from Forever 21 were eerily similar and much cheaper than the dress I had seen at Urban Outfitters (3rd picture)!

Forever 21 - $19.80

All you wanted for christmas?

The dust is settled, the paper's been torn to shreds, and by now your living room is full of empty boxes, plastic wrap and gaming instructions. Now it's time to enjoy your spoils.

Personally it felt like the month leading up to the big day was a complete blur in retrospect, but I must have been a good boy this year.

Awkward Christmas Dinner Conversations

Merry Christmas! While I'm stoked about spending time with family and friends I haven't seen in a while, I am dreading the awkward Christmas dinner conversations. You know, the ones that start like:

"You've been married for a year already... when will you give me some grandchildren?"

"How's (insert the ex who hooked up with your best friend here) doing? They were so nice."

"So I'm guessing 'lose a few pounds' is on the resolution list for '10 for you?"

Here's how the conversation goes with my family at Christmas every year:

(insert relative name here): "Fisher, are you seeing anybody right now?"

Me: "No, not right now."

Relative: "How come?"

Me: "I don't know. I'm just busy with work."

Relative: "But you're a great catch. Are you trying to find someone?"

Me: Yes. I'm just very busy with work right now.

Relative: "But you are almost 30 and still single. You're a good looking man... why aren't you settled down yet?"

Me: *sigh* I don't know. But it's seriously okay.

Relative: "Are you sure you're not gay?"

So, to avoid that awkward encounter or one just as embarassing, here are a few "Didja Know" Christmas-related topic starters:

"Did you know in the Middle Ages, Boar's head used to be a traditional Christmas dish? The custom started when a bear attacked a university student and he saved himself by ramming a book of Aristotle's writings down its throat. The bear choked to death so the student cut off its head and brought it back to his college. "

"Did you know Christmas pudding should be stirred from east to west in order for it to be considered authentic?"

"Did you know that animal cracker boxes have a string handle because they were originally intended to hang on Christmas trees?"

"Did you know before settling on the name of Tiny Tim for his character in A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens considered naming him Little Larry, Puny Pete and Small Sam?"

"Did you know Christmas trees are edible? Many parts of pines, spruces, and firs can be eaten. The needles are a good source of vitamin C. Pine nuts, or pine cones, are also a good source of nutrition (don't try this with a fake tree)."

"Did you know Franklin Pierce was the first United States' president to decorate an official White House Christmas tree." (For some families you may just want to start with "Did you know Franklin Pierce was a President?")

MERRY CHRISTMAS, RVA!!

Search For Grinch Ends: It Was A mistake

It turns out no coats were stolen from the Salvation Army distribution center at Chesterfield Town Center. A Salvation Army worker originally reported to the Chesterfield County Police the theft of nearly 1,000 coats from the distribution center. Yesterday, the Salvation Army said between 200 and 300 coats were missing - not 1,000. Today, the Salvation Army told police that it was all a mistake. Miscommunication between workers at the distribution center led to the theft report. In fact, all of the coats were distributed - as intended - to needy members of the Metro Richmond community.
