RICHMOND ANIMAL LEAGUE OFFERS FREE SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES FOR LOW INCOME AND UNEMPLOYED PET OWNERS

(RICHMOND, VA) - To help ease the financial burden of Richmond area pet owners, Richmond Animal League (RAL) is offering vouchers for free spay and neuter surgeries at participating veterinary offices to eligible cats and dogs. In order to qualify for the surgery, pet owners must be low income or unemployed. Pet owners are required to provide documentation to prove they are one of the following:

  • On government assistance
  • Collecting unemployment
  • Full-time college student
  • Annual income les than $30,000

All interested potential participants must contact RAL to schedule an appointment time for their animal. Space is limited. To reserve a spot for your animal, contact RAL by emailing Pam@ral.org or calling (804) 379-0046 ext. 11.

To meet the requirements for the surgery, dogs must be 14 weeks or older and cats must be five months or older. All animals must be in healthy condition and are required to have a current rabies vaccination. Feral or aggressive animals won't be accepted.

The funding for this voucher program is made possible by a grant from the Build A Bear Foundation.

Richmond Animal League is the area's oldest non-profit "no kill" organization. Its mission is to decrease the amount of homeless pets in the Richmond area. Every year RAL provides temporary housing, medical treatment, sterilization, and quality care to over 800 companion animals until they are adopted into permanent and loving homes.
