According to Henrico County Police, around 10:00 Tuesday morning a School Resource Officer at Henrico High School responded to a fight in a classroom. Police say During the fight a 16-year-old student produced what investigators descibed as a "sharp object" and stabbed a 17-year-old student in the torso. The 17-year-old was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and, as of Thursday afternoon, was in stable condition. The 16-year-old was taken into police custody and transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hanover County for treatment of minor injuries.
Police say the school was placed in lockdown "so as not to effect the overall student population" and to allow investigators to process the scene. Authorities say an investigation into the stabbing is ongoing and, depending on the outcome of the investigation, charges may be pending.

Just before eight o'clock Thursday morning, a Henrico County resident discovered a body floating in a lake just north of the intersection of Patterson Avenue and Maybeury Drive in the county's west end. Police were called to the scene as another resident of the neighborhood launched a kayak, checked the body for a pulse and, finding none, moved the body to the south edge of the lake.
Lieutenant Eric Owens of the Henrico County Police Department said rescue workers recovered the body of a deceased female from the lake. The body was transported to the state Medical Examiner's Office for identification and determination of the cause of death.
Owens said the victim's body showed "no obvious signs of trauma."
"The body will be evaluated further by the Medical Examiner's Office," Owens said. "There was a missing persons report [Wednesday] of a female, however until positive identification can be made we cannot say at this time that the body recovered is the body of the person reported missing."
According to police, a female resident of Midway Road was reported missing Wednesday. Midway Road is less than a mile from the lake where the body was discovered.
UPDATE: Thursday afternoon, Henrico County police identified the deceased as 53-year-old Yan Fang Li of the 9000 block of Midway Road. The cause of death has been ruled a drowning. Li was reported missing early Thursday morning. Police say Mrs. Li's daughter informed them that her mother had been missing since Wednesday afternoon and was known to walk around the neighborhood.
Investigators say a witness passing the lake Wednesday afternoon saw a person in a gray hooded sweatshirt walking into the lake "with water up to her chest." According to police, the witness did not call police because she believed the person was trying to retrieve something from the lake.
Early this afternoon, Henrico County fire crews were called to the 1500 block of Split Oak Lane in the Honey Tree apartment complex in the county's west end. When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from one building in the complex and immediately called a second alarm.
Fire crews attempted to enter the building but were forced back by the flames. As a third alarm was called, Henrico Fire teams used ground ladders to rescue two people from the third floor of the building.
Several residents suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene and released. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Red Cross is assisting residents displaced by the blaze.

The Henrico County Fire and Police departments are conducting a joint investigation into a house fire that claimed multiple lives this morning in the 1700 block of Debbie Lane in the county's north side. Assistant Fire Marshall Will Shumate said the fire department initiated an aggressive response when they received the call because reports indicated there were people trapped in the home.
"With the report that there may be victims trapped, Henrico Fire upgraded it to a second alarm which brought an additional two engines and another specialty unit as well as multiple ambulances...there's a bunch of people out here today," Shumate said.
The fire was marked under control around 11:00 this morning. The number of fatalities was unknown when fire and police officials conducted a press briefing at 11:30 this morning and the victims have not been identified. Lieutenant Eric Owens with the Henrico Police Department said police investigators are exploring all possibilities as to the cause of the blaze.
"On fires where there is a fatality, we normally work as a group - Police and Fire together. Everybody has resources that compliment each other," Shumate said.
